I’ve always felt that jazz is the way in which something is done. The material can come from anywhere — what makes it jazz is the way you approach it.

A SPECTACULAR JAZZ-CHURC ORGAN VERSION OF " LAURA " !!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased this album because I love the ORGAN JAZZ or JAZZ ORGAN !!!!!!!!

This was recorded LIVE at the FAT TUESDAY'S club in New York City on November 17, 1990.

STANLEY TURRENTINE - saxophone
Jimmy Smith - organ
KENNY BURREL - guitar
GRADY TATE - drums

It contains a spectacular version of "LAURA", with a Jimmy's organ introduction & close, that have organ passages that ONLY JIMMY SMITH, TONY MONACO and JOEY DEFRANCESCO are able to do at the Jazz Hammond Organ !!!!!!!!! NO ELSE Organist, except those, is able to do that!!!!!

Some intoduction and close's Hammond Organ passages echo a church jazz style, and if you have the Jimmy Smith 1957 's live performance at the Small's Paradise club ( There is the same track " Laura") or Joey DeFrancesco & Jimmy Smith's live performance at the San Francisco Festival ( CD- Incredible! - Joey DeFrancesco - Concord Label), you know what I want to say!
Please buy this album and you will not repent of having done it !

Perfect
I keep coming back to this one. I absolutely love the lounge version of Laura. This is a wonderful addition to any Jimmy Smith collection.

Longevity, Consistency and Swing
Having listened to Jimmy Smith for some 38 years this album does not disappoint. With long time "Smithers" as Burrell, Tate and Turrentine, how could one come away from listening to this extension of Fourmost without feeling grooved, swung and attitude improved. Great album. Buy it!
